CHRIS' 20 FOR 20
COVID Update: It's no exaggeration to say circumstances have changed significantly since the start of this fundraising challenge. In this video I give an update on how I'm adapting to the new normal.
I am running 20 half marathons in 2020 for the Bringing Back a Smile charity because they do such a fantastic job helping children and their families who are affected by serious or terminal illness
Bringing Back a Smile was formed in 2017 by Kevin Hill. The charity’s focus is to help raise funds for children and adults with life-threatening illnesses to give them and their families a break away from the gruelling treatment they often undertake daily.
My company Wealth of Advice felt very passionately about the work being done by Kevin and the team and really wanted to help – that’s why we’ve become the charity’s headline sponsor.
Our aim is to fundraise throughout the year to support Bringing Back a Smile’s efforts to buy a caravan at Primrose Valley – this will then be available to families throughout the year to provide them with a welcome retreat and somewhere to relax between their treatment cycles.
For some crazy reason, I have decided that to boost our fundraising efforts and the sponsorship we’ve provided to the charity, over the course of 2020 I am going to run 20 half marathons.
I’m hoping it’ll be a win-win – by the end of the year I will be a bit fitter and slimmer and most importantly, I will have helped this wonderful charity to get closer to their target of £30,000, which will enable them to buy the caravan.
My first run will be the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando on Sunday, February 23 – click the '20 for 20' link at the top of this page to see all of the marathons I'll be running in 2020.
If you can help and are able to donate, whatever the amount, it would be most appreciated.
